HPC Optimized AWS EC2 Instances

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides High Performance Computing optimized EC2 Compute Instances that can be used to deploy heavy performance workloads. This blog entry provides details about which of the HPC Optimized EC2 instances are available in AWS Cloud and understand their basic use case of implementation.

EC2 HPC Optimized instances that are available in AWS Cloud are,

hpc7g
hpc7a
hpc6id
hpc6a

Below image for reference on the Cores available for each of the Instance and Memory associated with them.

Though 256GB is not available, but the memory starts with 128GB and at max goes to 1024GB. Same is the case with cores as well where the maximum cores are placed at 192 and minimum cores are 16.

As part of AWS Instance types mentioned here, some of the features that are present with these 4 EC2 instances are,

Hpc7a and Hpc6a are using AMD EPYC processors and Hpc6id is using Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
